Bar chords are usaully the easiest chords to learn for a begining guitarist and are really common in modern rock so its going to seem like there is nothing else u need to learn. As u learn more ur going to realize theres much more out there playing the guitar than bar chords. Scales are great for solos and let u express ur emotions in ur own way. U can even create ur own true sound. Listen to the song, " since ive been loving you" by led zeppelin, there aint much bar chordin in that song just emotion in one of jimmy page's great scales.
