My Jackson Rhaods has EMG Humbucker pickups but sounds awful in Standard?

I Bought my Rhaods in February and I downtuned it to Drop-C, it sounds beautiful to things such as barre chords and single notes but anything else makes it sound ****, can anyone give me advice?
