Relisted question to see if anyone else can advise? total puzzlement here...?

Hi. Seemingly normal objects can some times fool your brain into thinking it knows such things as scale. You mention the garage several times but do not say if you moved to one side or other to check if it was near the garage or in the distance. One example, tonight the Moon is about half lit. The other side is lit by Earth light. And near the horizon can appear orange. It sets soon after. Is it possible this is what you saw? Perhaps.
