Which guitar chords should i learn/know as a beginner? (been playing for 2 months)?

I've taken a beginners class for guitar and have been playing for two months, and i have a basic knowledge of notes up to the fourth string and a few open chords (still working on changing chords). At the moment I'm just interested in playing accompaniment. So how many and which chords should i know at my level, and as i progress, what additional chords should i become familiar with? Any tips on learning open and barre chords would be appreciated.
